How to Start a Beginner's Skincare Routine If You Have No Clue and No Time

Image
Skin care is serious business, and with more product launches than ever before, #shelfies to sift through on Instagram, and longer routines than we care to admit (I've even seen some people with skincare spreadsheets!), it's easy to get confused on where to start. Ten-step skincare routines might be the way forward for some, but for those with no time or no clue, simple skin care is the way to go. Simplistic doesn't mean it's any less effective; in fact, cutting back the ingredients could be just what you need for your best skin yet. Overloading the skin with multiple products could be doing more harm than good if you don't know what you're doing. The key to having healthy skin is supporting the skin barrier by not stripping it. Likewise, doing nothing for the skin probably won't give you the glowing results you're after. If you want to address those skin concerns, put down that bar of soap and pick up the SPF. The main aims are to keep the skin cle

31 Mood-Boosting Pajama Sets For When You're Chilling At Home

Image
When you're chilling, at home, and both chilling at home, is there anything better than wearing a cute pajama set? We think not. Sure, when working from home , it's best to maintain a routine and get dressed each day, even if that means throwing on a polished top with leggings or sweatpants . But when you're off duty and relaxing, a comfy pajama set is a very solid choice (particularly when paired with cozy socks or slippers). Whether you're a lover of matching sets or throw on whatever is clean and closest to you in the given moment, a coordinating pajama set can really change your mindset and enhance your mood. Truly! Whether you get dressed for your significant other, friends, your dog, or just yourself, the process is often psychological and spurs feelings of joy, confidence, and, a lot of times, competence. So, in a time where practicing social distancing is the norm and we seemingly have few reasons to throw on anything more than the basics, it's the littl

Meghan Markle, Céline Dion, Lizzo + More Ways Celebs Wear Green

Image
Gather all of your green beads and pots of gold because today marks St. Patrick’s Day. Named after St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, it is said that the holiday is associated with the color green as a link to nationalism with green being prominent in the Irish flag. Other legends claim that the color was said to make you invisible to leprechauns, fairy creatures and other mystical beings that would pinch you if you weren’t wearing green. Kate Middleton visited Ireland on her royal tour earlier this month and broke out a glimmering emerald dress from the Vampire’s Wife and matching velvet Manolo Blahnik BB pumps. Her sister-in-law Meghan Markle also followed suit with choosing the color for formal wear; the “Suits” alumna chose an Emilia Wickstead cape dress and Aquazzura nude pumps for 2020 Commonwealth Day services. Rita Ora Goes Edgy in Vinyl Leather, Sheer Pants With Peekaboo Legs and 5-Inch Heels

Rita Ora made her rounds across London yesterday in a bold look. The “Let You Love Me” singer chose to layer a hooded vinyl leather jacket and sheer cut-out pants over a full nude paneled bodysuit. The finishing touch of her look from French brand Courreges’ spring ’20 collection was the word “Paris” written across the backside of her trousers. Rita Ora at BBC Radio 2 in London, March 16. 9 of the Duchess of Cambridge's Most Stylish Headband Moments

Image
We all know the Duchess of Cambridge loves a hat , but Kate Middleton has also become rather partial to a luxe headband. Whether it's to keep her iconic brunette waves in check, or to add some color-coordinated chic to her holiday outfit, Middleton's headband choices have consistently scored highly in the beauty stakes. She clearly has her favorite designers - Jane Taylor and Juliette Botterill must be on her speed dial - but Middleton's also turned to affordable stores like Zara to get her headband fix. And the Duchess also has a favored style. Although she's been spotted in an animal-print plastic number back in the day, Middleton's recent choices have all been about making bold statements with either decadent fabrics like velvet and silk, or gorgeous embellishments either in the form of pearls or floral appliqués. She's worn these luxurious styles to christenings, weddings, church services, and Remembrance Days. Ahead, take a look at nine times Middleton h

30 Polished Tops to Wear When Videoconferencing From Home

Image
Working from home can be a huge challenge for many people, but a key tactic for making it through is getting dressed each day. Yes, it can feel silly to wake up, shower, and put on a cute outfit only to sit in your home all day. But when you think about it, working from home is still work, and while many offices and teams encourage a casual dress code, you probably don't want to be on a videoconference with your coworkers, your boss, or clients in pajamas or sweats. If you do, that's cool. We rounded up some of our favorite PJ sets and sweatpants outfit ideas for comfy style. But if you're in need of or simply want a more professional look when working from home, a polished top is a great place to start. The best part? You can totally still rock a comfy pair of leggings or sweats on the bottom; no one on a videoconference can see past your waistline. When shopping for tops to work from home in, styles like crisp button-down shirts, floaty blouses, and tees with uniqu

Yep, This Is Actually How Often You Should Be Washing Your Hair

Image
Most men do it every day. Selena Gomez does it twice a week. Kim Kardashian goes a full five days without it . (And we don't even want to know Sansa Stark's number .) How often you wash your hair , it seems, boils down to personal preference. Right? Not so fast. The answer to that question is murky, but can be summed up in four words: for the most part - but there are a few factors to keep in mind. First, there's the issue of stripping your scalp of its natural oils when you overwash. "Then, you must consider your hair type , texture, scalp condition , damage, and the style you wear," said Kevin Mancuso , hairstylist and global creative director for Nexxus. Oh, and don't forget your environment. ("If you live in a polluted city, you're going to want to wash your hair more frequently than you probably do.") So, how often should you "do" it? We asked a handful of pros for their opinion on how frequently you should be washing your h

9 Ways to Treat Your Skin, Especially If You're Indoors For the Indefinite Future

Image
While we don't really need an excuse to treat our skin well, we could often still use a nudge in the self-care direction . After all, if there's not a problem we're looking to solve , our routines can become more routine . . . when sometimes our skin would thrive if we just switched things up . That's where ampoules come in : they're more concentrated formulas (vs. traditional serums ), meant to be used for a specific length of time as a "skin reset" of sorts or for a highly targeted purpose . So if you're home more than normal these days or just searching for a new skincare product to try , check out the top-rated ampoules that you can find at Sephora right now, including masks and potent serums, too. How Do We Dress When There's No One - And Nothing - To Dress For?

Image
A few days into my own self-imposed social distancing, I tweeted "Dressing for men < Dressing for other women < Dressing for your dog." I was wearing a pair of black Nike leggings with my favorite purple Isabel Marant sweatshirt, and I'd forgotten to put on earrings, which is something I typically never forget to do. I was thinking about what I'd be choosing to wear when the only people I would see for the foreseeable future were my boyfriend, my dog (who certainly counts as a person), and my coworkers - but only from the shoulders up, via Google Hangouts. While working from home often was nothing novel for me, the rest of my calendar was also desolate, which was new. Dinner reservations at that new restaurant in Silverlake? Cancelled before I could make them, due to LA's citywide restaurant shutdown. That meditation class I was planning to attend Thursday night? Postponed. The party I planned to throw on Saturday? Delayed. I'd bought a great ROTATE

Sephora Is Closing Its Stores and Adjusting Its Return Policy Due to the Coronavirus

Image
Sephora has announced it will be closing all of its stores due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) . The news came Monday, March 16, from Jean-André Rougeot, the president and CEO of Sephora Americas, and stated the closures are effective March 17 at 5 p.m. and will last until Friday, April 3. As the world embraces social distancing, many businesses have closed their storefronts in an effort to minimize the spread of the virus. In the interim, Sephora will be waiving all standard shipping fees through Friday, April 3, on Sephora.com , sephora.ca , and the Sephora app with the code FREESHIP. As for Sephora's return policy during this turbulent time, the beauty retailer will be accepting returns on in-store items purchased up to 30 days before March 16 with a receipt for the first 30 days of reopening on April 3. Similarly, returns on online orders have been extended from the standard 30-day return polity to 60 days. "We also recognize that we are in a position to support the c

Princess Diana Was the Ultimate '80s Style Icon, and These Pics Are Proof

Image
ICYMI, the '80s have been taking over when it comes to street style trends. With that decade on our minds, we couldn't help reminiscing about one person who did it best: Princess Diana. The British Royal's style perfectly encapsulated so much that was wacky and wonderful about '80s style. We did a bit of digging to find 11 photos of the late princess that pretty much sum up the era - think blazers, big collars, and so much silk. 12 Stylish Outfit Ideas For Petite Girls

Image
When you're on the petite side of things, shopping for clothes can be a bit of a battle. Sure, more and more brands are releasing petite ranges, but even when they do exist, they are nowhere near as varied as the regular ranges. If you've ever found yourself drowning in oversize outerwear pieces, looking a bit frumpy in dresses that are so big they make you look like you're wearing a tent, or laughing in desperation at the sight of yet another pair of incredibly long jeans, then you probably know what I'm talking about. But, as it turns out, dressing your petite frame doesn't have to be so complicated. While it may not appear this way, many of the stylish women we all follow on Instagram are actually quite petite - and after taking a closer look at their feeds, I realized that they all have a few tricks up their sleeves when it comes to putting stylish ensembles together . From making sure that their waists are accentuated to staying away from too many layers, a
