I Cut My Own Hair at Home, and These Are the 6 Tools I Swear by From Amazon

Image
I've always been a DIY kind of gal. If I can figure out how to do something myself rather than pay someone else for it, I'll put in the time. That's what the magical realm of the internet is for anyway, right? One thing I've done for over a decade now is cut my bangs and trim my hair . *Cue the gasps!* Over the years, I have tested out many different tools to see which products are most effective. I am far more advanced than 16-year-old me, who let my friend give me blunt bangs for the first time in the bathroom at a sleepover. I don't want to look like a walking art project, so I have put in the time discovering the best items, and you can get all of them on Amazon . A little disclaimer for you: cut your hair at your own risk. I am not a professional and probably don't do it as well as one, but you can surf my Instagram to be the judge of that. Don't go giving yourself drastically different haircuts. These tools are great for trims and upkeep in betwe

8 Fashion Brands Selling Cotton Face Masks - Many of Them Sustainable

Image
In order to slow the spread of the coronavirus , the CDC now recommends wearing a face mask in public . Just as fashion brands are stepping up to help produce medical-grade masks and gowns for healthcare workers during the pandemic, many of them are now adjusting to customer's requests for non-surgical cotton masks and offering 1+1 or 5+5 match packages online. For example, when you purchase Christy Dawn's set - which comes in whimsical prints and patterns on 100 percent cotton - five masks will be delivered straight to your address and the other five will be donated to medical workers, so you can give back too. Reformation also offers three different options with its Millions of Masks initiative : purchase five sustainably-made cotton masks for yourself, donate five masks to the healthcare system, or buy in bulk for your company. We like to see that a lot of these labels are recycling fabrics from past collections or, in the case of denim brand Sixty-Nine, using scraps fro

Ready to Take Off Your Manicure? These Nail Polish Removers Make It Easy

Image
We can think of a few reasons you might want to take off your nail polish right now. For one, acetone can act like a sanitizing fairy godmother against bacteria on surfaces (except, you know, the painted ones) at a time we need it most. There's also a chance it's just . . . time , especially with salons closed across the country and your gel or dip powder manicure most likely well past its prime. So, yeah, maybe nail polish removers aren't quite as sexy as the nail polish color itself, but that doesn't mean they aren't necessary. If you're looking to make the take-off process just a little more enjoyable, you have options. From easy-to-use acetone wipes that get the job done fast to touch-ups pens that help you fix tiny polish mistakes, the innovative nail polish removers ahead are the among best on the market . These Ultra Soft Denim Picks Will Finally Give You a Reason to Change Out of Your Sweats

Image
Getting dressed these days can feel a bit repetitive. It's easy to fall into the habit of wearing the same things over and over again. I'm all about comfort right now, but as I spend more time at home, there are only so many days in a row you can wear workout pants. I'm switching it up with denim, but only in ultra soft fabrics – the kind of jeans that feel like they have been washed a hundred times on the first wear. I'm pairing them with linen tee shirts, button up cardigans, and sweatshirts for a slightly more polished look on days when I need a little style pick me up. We rounded up some editor favorites, and here are the winners. Source: https://ift.tt/2xVXpSy

Nina Dobrev gave social distancing style a bit of an upgrade yesterday while walking her dog in West Hollywood, Calif. The 31-year-old actress swapped the athleisure look for skinny jeans and sleek sneakers. Dobrev sported a long striped cardigan over a camisole top and dark-wash jeans, which fans believe are from Citizens by Humanity . Schitt's Creek: The Outfits at David and Patrick's Wedding Deserve Your Undivided Attention

Image
Ever since Patrick Brewer proposed to David Rose during season five of Schitt's Creek , we've been dreaming of the undoubtedly chic outfits everyone would wear to their wedding . Would David sport one of his signature sweaters in bridal white? What on earth would Moira Rose pull out of her extensive wardrobe next? Turns out, our expectations were blown out of the water while watching this week's series finale , as every member of the Rose family shows up to the town-hall ceremony in extremely on-brand ensembles. David rocks a Thom Browne suit with a leg-baring kilt, one of his go-to pieces worn throughout the series. Meanwhile, Alexis chooses an all-white, floor-length gown to walk her brother down the aisle at his wedding, naturally. And, in true Moira fashion , the matriarch rocks an over-the-top pope-inspired getup to officiate the nuptials. I mean, did you expect anything less than iconic from this bunch? Though we're certainly saddened to bid adieu to the Ro

People Are Turning Pillows Into Chic Outfits on Instagram - A Sentence I Never Thought I’d Say

Image
I never thought I'd be saying this but the latest fashion challenge to go viral on Instagram is wearing a pillow as a dress. (Yes, you read that right.) I personally thought I'd seen it all after witnessing Conor McKenzie turning a blanket into seven runway-worthy outfits while grabbing snacks from the kitchen, but these innovative looks are on another level. (BTW, if you haven't seen the video of Conor yet and need a little pick-me-up, what are you waiting for?) Influencers around the globe are belting a pillow onto their bodies and posting their "outfits" with the hashtag #quarantinepillowchallenge. Surprisingly, a lot of the outfits created are actually quite chic and brought a smile to my face. My favorite has to StyleByNelli's baby blue outfit that came with a cute basket bag. Many of these looks included cute accessories like scrunchies, matching purses, and cute heels/sneakers. Of course, there were plenty of eye-catching belts used during the chall

I Tie-Dyed a $9 Sweatshirt From Amazon, and Now I Never Want to Take It Off

Image
Tie-dye is quickly becoming one of the biggest print trends for spring and summer. It's the perfect mix of trendy and nostalgic and adds playfulness to any outfit . I have been looking for a new one for a while but couldn't find a color combination I loved. About a week ago, a friend of mine posted an adorable tie-dye sweatshirt that she had made at home. After a few DMs, she explained that she used ice and powder dye to create the effect. I immediately got instructions and went on Amazon and ordered the following: Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit 15-Color Party Kit, Standard, Rainbow ($14), Hanes Women's V-Notch Pullover Fleece Sweatshirt ($9), and Bamboo Ankle Socks ($14). I haven't ordered anything but groceries and essentials for the past month and was very excited to have a creative project lined up for the weekend - especially one that would result in something fun I could wear. Turns out, the process was really easy and not messy (which can be an issue with tie-d

Leggings Outfits That Feel Cute - and We Won't Delete Later

Image
Lately, I've been admiring all the great leggings outfits on Instagram. People seem to be genuinely excited to style outfits around them and sharing their looks proactively. I always find that some of my style icons who veer on the sportier side will, every so often, throw up a sports-bra mirror selfie or a quick snap after a yoga workout, but rarely are we thrilled to construct adorable looks with a tie-dye legging set. Sheltering in place has seemed to change that, and I, for one, am glad for it. Even though there's definitely still a strong appeal behind the sweat-chic look - from white joggers to the high-waisted variation - leggings have always been a tried-and-true athleisure staple, and they're great for a quick walk around the block, too. Some of our favorite leggings, from the likes of Everlane, H&M, and, of course, Kim Kardashian's newly iconic Skims label , are also made with cute little details that elevate an outfit instantly. I frankly can'

Nicole Kidman's At-Home Style Is Chic, but Wait Until You See Her Curls

Image
Nicole Kidman has been letting her natural hair texture thrive while in self-isolation. Many of us are used to seeing the Big Little Lies actress hitting red carpets and events with her hair straightened, but with nowhere to go, we can see why she's been embracing her curls lately. While on lockdown, Kidman shared a few videos of herself relaxing at home. In one video, her curls are in a messy updo as she sits on her couch reading a book, and in another, she lets them fall free while giving a shout-out to the healthcare workers currently on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. Kidman's natural hair color is red , though she's frequently switched back and forth between red and blond throughout her decades-long career . Got a Pair of Tights Lying Around? This Genius Hack Creates Perfect Waves Without the Heat

Image
View this post on Instagram A post shared by justine marjan (@justinemarjan) on Apr 7, 2020 at 2:40pm PDT We know heat styling our hair isn't the best thing for it, which is why we're always looking for ways to give our hair a much-needed break from the habit. But air-drying doesn't always give the results we crave, especially when it comes to creating waves on otherwise straight or wave-less hair. Celebrity hairstylist and beauty expert Justine Marjan has a fix for that, and it involves using a pair of tights or stockings in your hair. Yes, really. Marjan shared a video on Instagram for an easy heatless waves technique she's been using on her hair lately. All it entails is taking a pair of tights or stockings and braiding them into damp hair. Unlike the crimped, tighter waves you get when you braid your hair normally and let it air-dry, the tights make the style looser, resulting in a natural-looking curl. Check ou

Ellen DeGeneres Does the Cozy At-Home Look in Sweats + Simple White Sneakers

Image
Ellen DeGeneres is keeping cozy as she continues to stay home amid the coronavirus crisis. The 62-year-old talk show host tweeted a video from her home in Los Angeles to promote the latest episode of “Game of Games.” She wore an appropriately cozy look for the occasion, teaming a cornflower blue crewneck sweater with fitted gray sweatpants. DeGeneres added a bit of personality to her ensemble with a chic navy and white scarf, which she wore tied around her neck. #GameofGames is about to start! It’s an hour of fun, and tonight it has @JTimberlake and @AnnaKendrick47 and a bunch of other #Trolls . pic.twitter.com/DZDrDFQiuH — Ellen DeGeneres (@TheEllenShow) April 7, 2020 For footwear, the comedian chose a pair of sleek white low-top sneakers. It’s unclear what brand the shoes were from, but they had an understated look, with a clean white upper, a rounded toe and a subtle contrast detailing at the heel tab. Hailey Bieber's Stylist Posted 3 Never-Before-Seen Outfits From a Fitting - Which Is Your Fave?

Image
Since we've been practicing social distancing and staying at home, a lot of us have been trying to find a balance between living in cozy sweatpants and hoodies or continuing to get dressed up even though we have no place to go. Being a fashion editor, I've found myself scrolling through my phone reminiscing over old outfits I've worn in the past. It seems like I'm not the only one who misses getting dressed up and being outdoors. Celebrity stylist Maeve Reilly , who works with Ciara and more notably Hailey Bieber, clearly misses her job as well. Maeve posted a handful of throwback photos behind the scenes of her working with Hailey . She posted a series of photos of Hailey wearing never-before-seen outfits with the caption, "*Fitting Outtakes (Looks that no one has ever seen) These were from our last trip to Tokyo! Look 1 - @miumiu Runway Look (SO DOPE!!) Look 2 - @muglerofficial Full Look and Look 3 - @gucci Jacket (2 & 3 were worn just never photographed)

On Day 28 of Self-Isolation, Bruce Willis Shaved His Daughter Tallulah's Head

Image
Self-isolation at the Willis household includes matching pajama sets and impromptu haircuts - the latter from Bruce Willis himself. Not long after a photo of him, his ex-wife Demi Moore, and their family in green and white striped PJs spread around the internet, they made headlines again for their latest bonding activity. While social distancing, Willis shaved his daughter Tallulah Willis's head. In the video posted on her Instagram, the actor is seen taking hair clippers and buzzing it all off. One of his other daughters can be heard in the background saying, "You look like Joan of Arc, dude!" To debut her new hairdo and show off her approval, the 26-year-old posed for the camera as her older sister Rumer Willis took photos that were later shared on both of their Instagrams. These Nail-Care Products From Sephora Set the Stage For Your At-Home Manicure

Image
Sure, it's hard to not get distracted by all the pretty polish colors out there; after all, they can instantly boost your mood . However, the first thing to think about before attempting an at-home manicure is making sure your nails - and hands - are in good shape, too. Still, even if you're going to go polish-free, there's no reason why you can't use these products to treat your cuticles and trim your nails, so your hands look and feel great. At Sephora especially, nail-care products of all types are flying off the (virtual) shelves now that more people are ready to DIY a polish change - including celebrities - so ask yourself: do you have everything you need? Find the products from Sephora that let you totally nail your at-home manicures ahead. Source: https://ift.tt/3e1RI69
