Millie Bobby Brown Does Miley Cyrus’ ‘Hoedown Throwdown’ in Tie-Dye + Platform Sneakers

Image
Millie Bobby Brown just brought back Miley Cyrus’ famous song and dance from “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” The 16-year-old actress showed off her dancing skills for a video on Instagram, doing the “Hoedown Throwdown” from Cyrus’ 2009 feature film. In her colorful ensemble, Brown channeled tie-dye trends and pops of pink that debuted during spring ’20 shows like Versace in Milan and Dries Van Noten in Paris. On her feet, the “Stranger Things” star balanced the bold shades and patterns of her outfit with a set of white platform slip-on sneakers. Her dance earned a seal of approval from Miley’s sister Brandi Cyrus, who commented: “Hahaha this is amazing!!!” View this post on Instagram still remember my hoedown throwdown @mileycyrus #number1fan A post shared by mills (@milliebobbybrown) on Apr 15, 2020 at 4:47pm PDT Hot pink outerwear and tie-dye tights at Versace spring ’20. How to Wash Your Bras, When to Wash Your Bras, and Answers to Other Bra-quiries

Image
Once upon a time (OK, like two years ago), I threw my lace underwear, padded t-shirt bras, and bralettes in with the rest of my laundry. This is how I had done the wash for all of my life, or since my mother taught me "the rules" and I ran off to college in 2010. Yes, back in college, I only separated my wardrobe by color when doing the laundry, eventually finding that my delicate underthings were shredding and I had to reinvest in lingerie sets more often than what seemed normal. Then I started doing my research. After talking to a DKNY lingerie spokesperson and learning that I should probably pick up a mesh lingerie bag to eliminate snares and pulls, I took things one step further and tapped my friends over at Lively , along with Erin Rittling, senior manager of Aerie styling, for even more tips and tricks. Dude, it was about time I became a bra-washing pro! Sure enough, the aforementioned lingerie separates bag changed my life and has prolonged my time with some of my

9 Style Lessons I Learned From the Queen of the Upper East Side, Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf

Image
Gossip Girl 's Blair Waldorf is one of the most fashionable television characters of all time. Right up there with fellow fictional style icons, like Sex and the City 's Carrie Bradshaw , Dynasty 's Alexis Carrington Colby, and Killing Eve 's Villanelle , Blair's posh, prep-school style defined much of the aesthetic of the 2000s and 2010s, and her fashion influence continues to be credited today. I have a confession to make: Blair Waldorf was my first-ever fashion muse. Her girlish-preppy-vintage style really spoke to me in high school. Just like B, I also had an extensive collection of headbands to match all my outfits. She showed me what it truly meant to be a "fashion girl." Only Blair can be credited for putting the Upper East Side debutante on the global map, by inspiring a subculture of headbands, brightly colored tights, and smart, prep-school blazers. She's a bit of a romantic, and although she's a materialistic snob, she also desperatel

How Does Virtual Dermatology Work? I Tried the Skin-Care App Curology to Find Out

Image
In the age of Amazon and Instacart, there's not much we can't get at the click of a button - or while stuck inside our homes. From clothes to makeup to home decor, "I want it, I got it" is more or less our motto in 2020. But when things get medical - from primary care to dermatology and beyond - you enter a major grey area. As life becomes increasingly more digital (especially in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak ), it's no surprise that online healthcare offerings are expanding. There's Capsule, essentially the Uber of pharmacies, and Care/Of , personalized vitamin plans in aesthetically pleasing packaging. Even your primary provider is embracing the shift with digital test results, online message portals, and various forms of telemedicine. But the big question remains: how much can be done without actually seeing a patient in person? On the beauty front, dermatology might be one of the only professional services we can access online. Unlike a trip to th

Dua Lipa Got a Little Help From Anwar Hadid For Her Latest Beauty "Experiment": Pink Hair

Image
Image Source: Getty / Axelle / Bauer-Griffin / FilmMagic Dua Lipa's nostalgic chunky highlights are no more. The singer just revealed that she has dyed the top (previously blond) layer of her hair pink as part of what she described as her "experiment" for the week. Lipa shared dreamy selfies of her cotton-candy hair color in an Instagram gallery also spliced with memes and video-game screenshots. One mirror selfie also shows that her boyfriend , Anwar Hadid, lent a hand with the at-home dyeing process. The change comes not long after Lipa clarified that her new baby bangs were done out of necessity due to bleach damage. "PSA: this is not a haircut," she wrote at the time. "It's bleached breakages but im runnin w it." The bangs are kind of a vibe though, especially now that they're dyed pink, and we're inclined to quote Bob Ross and say, "There are no mistakes, only happy accidents." View this post on Inst

Can You Use Both Retinol and Vitamin C in Your Skin-Care Routine? The Experts Explain

Image
Image Source: Getty / Iryna Veklich When it comes to active ingredients that really improve your skin, there are few more effective than retinol and vitamin C . Unfortunately, these power players don't tend to play that nicely together. Retinol, a vitamin A derivative, turbo charges skin cell turnover to minimize the appearance of fine lines, pores, pigmentation, and more. It works hard and fast to reduce breakouts and knock years off your complexion. Vitamin C, on the other hand, is a potent antioxidant that protects and repairs skin cells whilst simultaneously tackling fine lines, brightening dark spots, and leaving skin glowing. Both sound good, right? Trouble is you that you can, in fact, have too much of a good thing, as overdoing it on retinol and vitamin C can lead to redness and sensitivity. Luckily, you don't have to choose one over the other. You do, however, need to be strategic with your application. We called on skincare experts to reveal exactly what each i

Back to Basics: The Only Pieces I Want to Wear Right Now

Image
Over the past few weeks I've tried to stay busy and productive. I've filled free time with small projects like organizing my closet , reading new books , even baking ! I've noticed that the things that bring me the most joy are quite simple, and the way I dress is no exception. I've come to appreciate the necessity for great basics that focus on fit, style, and wearability over trend. I'm wearing a fraction of my wardrobe right now, rotating a select few sweatshirts , oversized button-downs, easy straight leg denim , cardigans, ribbed tanks, and white tee shirts. Editing down your wardrobe is actually very freeing because you feel confident in the pieces you own and love. This month has been a lesson in conscious consumption. I want fewer pieces, better quality, and I'm quickly realizing that basics are anything but boring. Source: https://ift.tt/3bgIktn

Justine Skye Gets Real About Facial Hair in Vogue Video: "I Get a Little Mustache Sometimes"

Image
For many women, facial hair has been considered a taboo topic, but Justine Skye got real about hers in a new makeup tutorial she filmed with Vogue . The singer took us through her entire beauty and skin-care routine, touching on how she goes about removing hair from her face before she does her makeup. "This is a big secret of mine, I've actually never said this to anyone, but, you know, ladies, sometimes you have a little . . . ," she said at the start of the video, gesturing to her upper lip area. "I don't like to laser. Everyone says [to get] laser hair removal or like threading, which is so painful." Instead, Skye uses Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo, a two-step cream that's been discontinued. "It's very gentle, it never leaves scars - I've tried a lot of things because I tend to get a little mustache sometimes," she said. Next, she took us through her skin-care routine, which features Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansi

Image
Madelaine Petsch shared on her YouTube channel that she's focusing on self-care now more than ever while at home. Her two favorite things to do: crafts and her hair. In the video, Petsch made a case for creating and following a routine and explained she feels more productive when she " puts herself together in the morning ." Whether that means applying a quick coat of mascara and a tinted sunscreen or doing a full face of makeup, it looks different for everyone. For Petsch, that means using her Dyson Corrale Cordless Straightener to create one of her five favorite hairstyles for staying home. See what they are ahead. At-Home Hairstyle #1: Straightener Waves The first style is loose straightener waves. To start, she sprays on dry shampoo to add volume and sections her hair by pulling half to each side of her head. Working with a one-inch section of hair at a time, she wraps it around the straightener and curls away from her face. At the end, she runs her fingers th

Meghan Markle's Sustainable Green Maxi Dress Is Back in Stock Just in Time For Earth Day

Image
We saw Meghan Markle's laidback style in full effect, thanks to this belted green maxi dress last year. During the second day of the royal tour of Southern Africa back in September 2019, Meghan started off her day in a $118 Madewell denim jacket and flats while visiting the charity Waves For Change at Monwabisi Beach. Later on, Meghan switched into her second look of the day wearing a belted forest green maxi dress by Staud that had fashion girls eveywhere cheering. Meghan paired the chic shirtdress, which is made with recycled tissue, with a pair of Sam Edelman flats that she has worn multiple times before. To no one's surprise, the Millie Dress sold out pretty quickly, but the brand has finally restocked the look. While we know the price is a bit on the higher side at $325, you can feel a little bit better about buying it because of all the charities the brand has given back to during COVID-19 . Staud has already donated a portion of its profits to Meals on Wheels and

The New Yeezy Slides Are Here When Our WFH Outfit Needs Them Most

Image
TBH, I was not at all surprised that when I arrived at the landing page for the April drop of the Adidas x Yeezy slides , I was greeted by a giant spinning wheel, which promised me my shopping experience was loading. "You are in the waiting room. Sale has started. We are now taking orders. Do not refresh page." These were my instructions, right above images of the famous foam shoes in three different colorways: bone, resin (my favorite), and the newest addition, earth brown. Leave it to Kanye West to offer sizing by Adult, Grade School, and Toddler, retailing for $55, $45, and $35, respectively. Gosh darn it, I wish my foot were smaller so I could revel in the opportunity to wear a resin-colored slingback! Within five to 10 minutes, a bell dings on your computer and you're permitted to see if your specific size is still shoppable in the slip-on with the recognizable toothy sole . With these fitting so well into today's work-from-home aesthetic - just slip them on
