16 Kate Hudson Movie Outfits I'm Saving in My Back Pocket For Spring

Image
Kate Hudson 's early 2000s movies are my prime suggestion right now for content worth absorbing during the lockdown. You're probably like, "Yes Sarah, we know. You already dressed up like her *eye roll*." But it's not just How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days that's chock-full of outfits I'd rather be wearing . I still watch Fool's Gold obsessively before packing my bag for the beach because Kate's character Tess reminds me to include my printed headband - no bikini is complete without it! And I still eagerly await Liv's next outfit in Bride Wars , even though I've seen that movie like 10,000 times. But IDK man, that strapless Vera Wang wedding gown just gets more and more majestic every time I see it. Right now though, I'm hyper-focused on the everyday looks that I can memorize as I slowly build up my Spring wardrobe in anticipation of better, brighter days ahead . Being that a lot of 2020 trends involve incorporating styles we saw gai

Khloe Kardashian Tucks Her Tie-Dye Hot-Pink Leggings Into Socks and Slides

Image
Khloe Kardashian just combined multiple celebrity-favorite fashion crazes into one look. As seen on her Instagram Story, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star modeled an athleisure set from her own brand, Good American . The size-inclusive $79 sports bra and $119 leggings  brings together two of spring’s biggest trends: tie-dye and hot pink. Inspired by the spring ’20 runway shows of brands like Versace in Milan and Off-White in Paris, these two trends have been spotted on the likes of Millie Bobby Brown, Saweetie and Jennifer Lopez within the past few weeks alone. She then went a step further and added a pair

I Wore Full Glam For a Week of Staying at Home, and It Made Me Feel Human Again

Image
Wake up. Brush teeth. Turn on coffee pot. Throw on sweats. Open laptop. Sit on couch. Since staying at home every day, my morning routine has never been so simple. I practice the exact same actions over and over as soon as that alarm goes off. The one thing I actually miss is getting ready to head into the office; putting on makeup is my favorite part of my morning. It's almost like a meditation for me - my apartment is quiet and I get to take 20 minutes to just be creative and zone out. I miss that so much. These days, I'm pretty much rolling out of bed and vaguely glancing at myself in the mirror for a moment. Of course it's been great to let my skin breath, but I also long for that put-together feeling I have when I'm ready to step out into the world. So last week, I decided to challenge myself. I would put on a full face of makeup for seven days in a row. I'm not just talking about my usual routine; I decided to go all out and play with different looks. It

Kerby Jean-Raymond Makes a Powerful Statement on Inequality in Directorial Debut for Wale’s New Video

Image
Kerby Jean-Raymond has more to say. The Pyer Moss designer made his directorial debut today with a new video for Wale. In the video for the music artist’s song “Sue Me,” (featuring Kelly Price), the 2019 FNAA Person of the Year shows just exactly what things would look like if the racial power dynamic was flipped. It’s a pivot from his usual platform, but the video’s message carries on the designer’s overarching thread of black empowerment that can be seen throughout his work, from his groundbreaking spring ’20 runway show at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn for New York Fashion Week to the meaning of the layers on his bestselling Reebok by Pyer Moss Experiment 4 Fury Trail sneaker. The film begins with a mother waking up her two sons as she leaves for work. The family is white. The teenage son (played by Oscar-nominated actor Lucas Hedges) helps his young brother get ready for school while surrounded by emblems that show an inversion of power, from a can of oats to a framed print

Barbie Was "Fashionably Late" to the Pillow Challenge, but Really, She's Always on Time

Image
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Barbie® (@barbiestyle) on Apr 23, 2020 at 8:34am PDT How does Barbie dress when there are no space missions to embark on or dream houses to visit? Like many others staying home right now, she gets her inspiration from Instagram. The iconic doll recently participated in the popular, fashion-approved Pillow Challenge , which asks people to put together an outfit simply using a belt and - you guessed it - a pillow. "Staying at home or becoming the home," Barbie wrote on Instagram . "Thought it was only fitting to show up fashionably late to the #PillowChallenge." In participating, Barbie joins the ranks with Tracee Ellis Ross and Anne Hathaway , whose take on the challenge also involved a nod to her beloved Princess Diaries character, Mia Thermopolis. Jessie James Decker Is Workout-Ready in Sheer Leggings, a Strappy Sports Bra + Cheetah-Print Sneakers

Image
Jessie James Decker is embracing the athleisure look while stuck at home — and in wares from her own brand, nonetheless. The 32-year-old country singer posted a photo to Instagram today clad in a full look from her Kittenish brand’s new athletic wear line. The “Just Feed Me” author’s ensemble consisted of a strappy, already sold-out sports bra teamed with high-waisted leggings that had sheer accents. View this post on Instagram Today at noon we are dropping our active wear line! Let’s get physical! In honor of our active wear drop let’s do a little work out shall we? Leggings ARE Pants - Here's How to Style Them

Image
Lately, I've been admiring all the great leggings outfits on Instagram. People seem to be genuinely excited to style outfits around them and sharing their looks proactively. I always find that some of my style icons who veer on the sportier side will, every so often, throw up a sports-bra mirror selfie or a quick snap after a yoga workout, but rarely are we thrilled to construct adorable looks with a tie-dye legging set. Sheltering in place has seemed to change that, and I, for one, am glad for it. Even though there's definitely still a strong appeal behind the sweat-chic look - from white joggers to the high-waisted variation - leggings have always been a tried-and-true athleisure staple, and they're great for a quick walk around the block, too. Some of our favorite leggings, from the likes of Everlane, H&M, and, of course, Kim Kardashian's newly iconic Skims label , are also made with cute little details that elevate an outfit instantly. I frankly can'

Dua Lipa Has Been Building Her Collection of Tiny Tattoos Since 2015

Image
Dua Lipa has been passing the time at home in London by dyeing her hair bubblegum pink with the help of Anwar Hadid and posting throwback photos on Instagram. Aside from serving up major DIY hair-transformation inspo, she's also inadvertently giving us ideas for our next tattoo appointment. It's hard not to when she's like a living, walking ad for tiny, meaningful tattoos . From phrases and quotes to little designs that are so discreet, you almost miss them, the singer has quite the assortment of tattoos at just 24 years old. Lipa's collection of body art dates back to 2015 with her first "Sunny Hill" tattoo, which is a tribute to her home in Kosovo. Since then, she's added over 10 pieces of ink scattered mainly on her arms and fingers over the last five years. Ahead, we rounded up all 17 of Lipa's tattoos and their meanings. I Have Worn the Same $6 Liquid Eyeliner For 10 Years, and It Gets Me So Many Compliments

Image
I'm a girl who likes to wear a sharp, inky-black cat eye on the regular. There's something about it that makes me feel both powerful and glamorous, so I have made it my go-to look since my teenage years. Time after time, friends, coworkers, and strangers have asked me the same question: "What eyeliner do you use?" There's nothing that brings me more joy than smugly telling them it's a $6 pick from the drugstore. Yes, I have been religiously swiping Wet n Wild MegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner ($6) on my lids for 10 years now, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. Before you become skeptical, know that I have tried my fair share of liquid liners. I am always curious to see if any high-end or drugstore brands can match the quality of my Wet n Wild pick, but they never do. MegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner comes in a small tube with a screw-top handle. The applicator, a flexible spongy brush, is easy to maneuver as I glide it across my skin. The harder you press, th

Tom Brady Layers Socks and Slides in Throwback Video to Summon Rob Gronkowksi to Tampa Bay

Image
Tom Brady welcomed his former teammate to his new team yesterday in a humorous way. The new Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback shared on Instagram an “Anchorman”-inspired video he originally posted in 2016, using a conch shell to summon his former New England Patriots teammate Rob Gronkowski to the Sunshine State. As Brady stands outside in a ball cap, sweater, sweatpants, he covered his feet by slipping a set of plain white socks into black-and-white Under Armour slides, which are now on sale at Belk.com for $27, instead of the original asking price of $35. (Brady became a brand ambassador for Under Armour in 2010.) Heeding the call, Gronkowski then comes running out of the woods in a white V-neck T-shirt, shorts layered over black leggings and white Nike sneakers. The tight end, who retired from football in spring 2019, runs to Brady and, with his chest heaving, says, “A little tired, but Gronk reporting.” View this post on Instagram Time to run

I Did My Own Box Braids For the First Time Despite Barely Knowing How to Braid

Image
I get frustrated every time I think about the fact that I'm a Black girl who can't braid . To clarify, I can easily complete a simple, three-strand braid, but my attempts to do anything more complex than that - cornrows, french braids , fishtails - always prove to be a joke. I know I'm not alone in this, and it's tough when you're someone who frequently wears protective styles , but it's even tougher at a time like this when hairstylists aren't so easily accessible. It was for this reason that I decided out of sheer desperation that I'd try my hand at doing my own box braids - and you can imagine my surprise when I actually didn't hate the results. I can't think of a more perfect style to wear than braids (or any protective style, really) when making an appointment with a hairdresser is close to impossible. Protective styles give you the option to tuck away your ends and lay off your hair for at least a few weeks at a time so you don't hav

I Found This Self-Tanner on Amazon Years Ago, and Now It's the Only One I Use

Image
For as long as I can remember, I've always been the "fairest of them all" - and I don't mean that in an adorable fairy-tale way but a palest-person-in-the-room way. Growing up in South Florida, it seemed as though all of my friends had a natural tan from wearing tank tops and shorts every day in the hot sun. For me, however, going outside without slathering on SPF 30 seemed like a death sentence. I could never get the color I wanted unless I subjected myself to days on end in the blistering sun, and I knew that wasn't good for my skin (or for preventing wrinkles in the future). I was in high school when I first discovered self-tanner . A product that could give me a glowing appearance without damaging my skin? Sign me up. Over the years, I have tried every sunless option under the sun (no pun intended) - from gels, lotions, and foams to overnight tans, clear formulas, and one-hour express tans, I've subjected myself to many experiments. Some have turned ou

What's Behind Vogue's Rose Cover? Postcards From Kendall Jenner, Ashley Graham, and More

Image
Vogue has released a special issue titled "Our Common Thread" for its June/July 2020 feature, introduced with a powerful editor's letter from Anna Wintour . Anna touches on the challenges our world has faced over the course of the past month and beyond and hopes the rose she chose for the cover, an unpublished photograph called "Rose, Colour Wonder" by Irving Penn from 1970, paints the picture of joy and hope. "Mr. Penn's decades of pictures for Vogue were always adept at conveying both deep emotion and journalistic acuity. I was always proud of every image of his that we published, and this one is no different. I'm also pretty sure that he would have loved it," she wrote. "Our Common Thread" refers to the fundraising video series launched by the publication and the CFDA weeks ago - a platform where designers and industry leaders are invited to talk about how their businesses have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis. 14 Ways Our Editors Are Practicing Self-Care During Social Distancing

Image
We're almost through with week two of social distancing - although that timeline is a little different for everyone - and it's safe to say it's been quite the adjustment. Naturally, we're going through a stressful period and spending an increased amount of time indoors doesn't help, but many of us are trying to make the best of it by focusing our energy on self-care . Self-care looks a little different for everyone. For some, it's following along to workout videos from their bedroom; for others, it's cooking a big homemade meal, painting their nails a different color every day, or lying in bed and binge-watching Tiger King . It's important to take some extra "me" time right now. Ahead, a few of our editors shared how they're keeping busy and practicing self-care with beauty from the comfort of their homes. Ashley Graham Has Just the Outfit For "Suburbia Fashion Week" - and No, It's Not Pajamas

Image
View this post on Instagram A post shared by A S H L E Y G R A H A M (@ashleygraham) on Apr 22, 2020 at 10:09am PDT Ashley Graham is coining the term "Suburbia Fashion Week," and she has a runway-ready outfit to submit: her striped set from Marina Rinaldi. The model ( and new mom !) posted a photo on Wednesday of her black satin trousers and button-down top. I mustered up the motivation to actually change out of my well-worn sweatshirt today and put on jeans, so I understand the desire to get dressed up during this stay-at-home period. It's refreshing! Marina Rinaldi is a go-to brand for Ashley; she wore the designer before giving birth to her son Isaac, too. Ashley elevated her set even further by adding a pair of sunglasses and a pulled-back bun. I'm stealing that trick the next time I head to the grocery store - whether or not I'm wearing a chic outfit. Source: https://ift.tt/2Ktdhio
