Halsey Gives Sailor Moon’s Schoolgirl Uniform Her Own Cosplay Twist

Image
Halsey is continuing her streak of cosplay-style ensembles with a bold new look . The “Without Me” singer chose an outfit that echoes the signature look of “Sailor Moon,” a Japanese anime series based on the namesake ’90s graphic novel. Halsey channeled the series’ lead character’s take on a schoolgirl uniform with a white crop top, red necktie and green pleated skirt. She topped the outfit off with a set of thigh-high white stockings. The songstress captioned the post with a lyric from her song “Alanis’ Interlude” featuring singer Alanis Morissette, saying: “Bad news, think I’ll prolly die before I have you.” View this post on Instagram bad news, think I’ll prolly die before I have you. Disick’s colorway is no longer available for purchase, but a similar style retails for $650 at Farfetch.com . Naomi Campbell’s Iconic Runway Tumble in 9-inch Heels Is Back With an Inspiring Message

Image
Naomi Campbell brought back one of her most memorable runway failures as a method to spread encouragement to keep getting back up. The supermodel threw it back to a Vivienne Westwood fall show from 1993 where a then 23-year-old Campbell strutted in a sweater, plaid skirt, white tights and a pink voluminous feather boa. As the crowd cheered her on and the cameras flashed, she started to lose her balance due to her iconic towering heels before falling to the ground. The blue leather Gillie style with an imitation crocodile-embossed pattern is set atop a whopping 9-inch Louis heel with a 4-inch front platform to balance out the steep height. With its lace-up silhouette and rounded toe, these elevated pumps kept with Westwood’s bold mix of traditional silhouettes and standout designs. Campbell used the moment to bring inspiration to those struggling in the current environment with a quote from Nelson Mandela that reads: “Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I

I'm definitely the type of person who DMs pals and coworkers asking them if they own something I'm considering buying, or if they have a strong recommendation. So while doing some online shopping recently, I thought, "Who better to sift through the most popular products at Old Navy and help me cull out the best than my fellow Popsugar editors?" From identifying the perfect white t-shirt that promises to maintain quality throughout washing, to high-waisted trousers that I'm dubbing "magic pants" because our editor claims they feel more like sweats, to side-pocket leggings that keep everything in, Popsugar editors revealed what their favorite finds have been so far this year. And they're all right this way. Related: Old Navy Just Released Matching Short Sets, and I'm Scooping Them Up Source: https://ift.tt/3cMqrD1

I Cleaned Out 100+ Items From My Closet by Asking This 1 Question

Image
You would have never known that I organize and overhaul the wardrobes of clients for a living if you had seen the state of my closet last week. Standing in my closet last Sunday while trying desperately to find something to wear led to the realization that my closet was leading a double life. It's not that it was a "hot mess," organizationally speaking. It was, however, glaringly obvious that everything in there represented my previous life, a very different life from the one I am currently living. A closet filled with four-inch heels and designer duds snagged at countless samples sales (read: I worked at Neiman Marcus corporate for almost a decade and everyone drives everywhere in Dallas) does not a smooth transition to the Bay Area make. So, I made another cup of coffee, turned on my "Closet Overhaul" Spotify playlist, and did to my own closet what I have done hundreds of times for clients in the past. I picked up the first hanger and asked the million dol

‘Making the Cut’ May Be Over, But You Can Still Shop From Its Online Store

“Making the Cut” aired its final two episodes on Amazon Prime this week, concluding the first season of the designer contest reality show on Friday. Created and presented by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn , the television show brings back a series reminiscent of “Project Runway.” After a heated competition that led to the final contestants having to open a pop-up store before pitching their brand to Amazon, the judges — who included both Klum and Gunn along with influencer Chiarra Ferragini, TV personality/House of Harlow designer Nicole Richie, French editor Carine Roitfeld and designer Joseph Altuzarra — chose a winner, who took the home $1 million prize. Esther Perbandt, Jonny Cota and Sander Bos made the cut as the final three, with Cota ultimately being named the champion. Throughout the season, Amazon offered the winning look online . Although all are now sold out, “Making the Cut” fans can continue to invest in the show by shopping the winning collection and final contestants’ f

I've Traded In Sweatpants For Bike Shorts, and My Favorite Aerie Pair Is 40% Off Today

I have admittedly bought tons of sweatsuit sets , but it's already getting too warm in my apartment for the head-to-toe cozy look. My next loungewear investment is definitely bike shorts . Not only is the style on-trend, but it's also incredibly comfy. I've seen stars like Emily Ratajkowski and Kim Kardashian rocking the look, so I was excited to try it out for myself. I've tested out a few options now, but my hands-down favorite is the Aerie Real Me Wrap Bike Short ($18, originally $30). The fabric is buttery-soft and the V-shaped waistband is incredibly flattering across my stomach. They come in sizes XXS to XXL - I'm wearing a large, for reference. After the judges speak with the designers and deliberate, Sander Bos is sadly sent home. Tim Gunn emotionally reminds Bos that he has a successful future ahead of him. These Dreamy Fashion Instagrams Will Bring a Smile to Your Face When You Need It the Most

Image
While I haven't made the switch from sweatpants to "real" clothes just yet, I have found myself scrolling through Instagram and daydreaming about things I can't wait to wear (and do) when all of this comes to an end. While the future of so many of our favorite designers, especially small brands , is unknown due to the coronavirus pandemic, they need our support now more than ever. Even if you can't buy anything, you can still support them in other ways, like showing a little love on social media. Lately, there's something about seeing these designers put out dreamy imagery of pieces they're proud of that just hits different - and it has sparked joy in me . A few such examples? Milan-based brand Les Petits Joueurs , which has an array of gorgeous, crystal-embellished bags and heels that have a fun, nostalgic feel to them. Watching Jacquemus's video of the brand's little mini Chiquito bags singing Adele's "Someone Like You" made me

Uma Thurman Gave Daughter Maya Hawke a Haircut à La Mia Wallace From Pulp Fiction

Image
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Uma Thurman (@umathurman) on Apr 22, 2020 at 8:52pm PDT Maya Hawke just got a badass blunt-bob haircut , and it looks like her onscreen job at Scoops Ahoy isn't her only claim to '80s fame. Unlike other celebrities testing their own at-home skills with the haircutting scissors , the Stranger Things star enlisted the help of none other than Uma Thurman , aka her mom, to get the job done right. "Home haircuts bring us back home. We are all finding ourselves again," Thurman captioned an Instagram post of herself snipping Hawke's hair in the kitchen on April 23. It may just be the lighting, but something about Hawke's haircut bears a striking resemblance to her mom's hair when she starred as the iconic Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction . Either way, the chin-length bob looks super cute from behind, and we can't wait for Hakwe to share more photos of the new cut soon.
