For “American Idol” last night, the “Daisies” singer returned to her signature standout style in a custom ensemble courtesy of Christian Siriano. The outfit featured a puff-sleeve, peplum top layered over matching satin trousers, all coated in a twist on a cow print; the look was complete with a dramatic train, fingerless gloves and a coordinating wide-brim hat. Kamala Harris joined Joe Biden on the campaign trail this week as the two set out to visit cities ahead of the Nov. 3 elections. The presidential and vice-presidential candidates took their tour bus to Phoenix yesterday, stopping by local restaurants as well as meeting with Cindy McCain, wife of the late Sen. John McCain. For the eventful day, Harris kept up with her signature style in a checkered navy blazer layered over a black blouse and matching navy trousers. The past four months have birthed collectives such as the Black in Fashion Council, the Black Fashion & Beauty Collective, the Kelly Initiative, RAISEfashion, and designer Aurora James’s 15 Percent Pledge — in addition to renewed attention on the work of Harlem Fashion Row and new equality measures put forth from the Council of Fashion Designers of America, reinvigorated by CaSandra Diggs, the council’s first Black president.
