New Style Idea

As I'm sitting here writing this, I'm annoyed. After getting a lovely gel  manicure about a week and a half ago (on that was still going strong up until about two seconds ago), my thumb just ripped in two. Or to be more specific and less dramatic, my thumbnail caught on something, ripped, and I couldn't resist going rogue and completely tearing it off so that my left thumbnail is about half the length of the right. (Sorry for that sordid visual.) Of course, this probably wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't a nail addict who polishes and lacquers up weekly like it's going out of style, never picks up a cuticle oil even though I have countless gorgeous elixirs sitting on my night table, and notoriously peels off gel. (If you don't know what that last part is, we'll enlighten you below—it's not good.) Body inclusivity is no longer an extra asset that brand's throw on their marketing techniques. It's a default—a prerequisite for  fashion brands to expand their sizes to ensure that all women  have the opportunity to feel stylish, beautiful, and at their best. A clothing store without plus-size options is reminiscent of a make-up brand without different skin tones. And even though fashion continues to exhibit signs of progression , there is obviously still so much more work to do. However, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to shopping for plus-sizes—most people are unaware of the unseen labor that goes into it. Contrary to their straight-size counterparts, those above a 12 or 14 don't necessarily have the option of just popping into a Zara to find a last-minute outfit. I'll put it like this: Even  my 72-year-old father (who knows nothing about beauty aside from the occasional face mask I make him try ) has heard of Glossier . The brand is just that well-known. If pressed, he could even list off a few of the biggest top sellers like Boy Brow (which he adorably calls "Boy Stuff"), Cloud Paint, and Balm Dotcom. Of course, he does have a beauty-obsessed wife and daughter , but when I asked him when and where he first heard of the brand, his reply was a perturbed, "Do you think I live under a rock?"
