Each summer, a slew of cool new swim trends is introduced—from tiny string styles perfect for tanning to retro floral prints that were basically made for Instagram. Celebrities usually introduce us to these trends, then a few cool girls on Instagram jump on board, and suddenly, said trend is everywhere. But there's one trend bubbling up that's not so new. In fact, it's the same one I wore in middle school (kind of). Yes, tankinis are making a big comeback, but the 2021 versions are a bit different than the ones we all loved in seventh grade. The current tankini trend involves a top style that's a bit longer on the torso, hitting right around the bottom of your ribs. These tops are also more fitted than those of yesteryear and, by default, much more modern.
