How Paula Gerbase Pivoted John Lobb’s Social Media Strategy During the Lockdown

Image
“I can’t remember the last time I was in one place for this long,” said Paula Gerbase . The creative talent behind British heritage label John Lobb was speaking to FN via Zoom from her East London townhouse in a tranquil studio drenched in sunlight and decked out with rich green foliage. Typically, Gerbase is shuttling between the Hermès owned label’s Northampton factory and its Paris based atelier — and before the pandemic took hold, she was in Tokyo for a John Lobb pop-up at Isetan in February and then visited Switzerland’s Zermat where she grew up. “Travel nourishes me,” she said. Still, she said that confinement has given her time to reflect. Christian Louboutin Reflects on Blake Lively’s ‘Heavenly’ 2018 Met Gala Look

Image
Plenty of Met Gala fans point to the 2018 event as a particularly good year — and Christian Louboutin agrees. During his FN cover shoot, the French designer looked back on some of his favorite celebrity moments in his career. At the top of his list was accompanying actress Blake Lively to the 2018 Met Gala , which had the theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” “It was a very fun preparation. Blake was really into it,” Louboutin recalled. “The dress was really big, so the whole preparation was a lot of fun.” Blake Lively in a custom Versace gown and Christian Louboutin peep-toe platforms decorated with gold and passementerie. Outer Banks: I'm on the Wait List For John B's Beach Day Shirt, and I Won't Give Up Till It's Mine

Image
Full disclosure: at the time I'm writing this, I have only watched one episode of Netflix's Outer Banks , which, understandably, is all the rage right now. Aside from being filmed in a beach town , thereby providing a method of "vacation escapism" when our world could really use it, it's also a story of friendship that fans hope to follow into a second season . With a beach town comes beach shirts, and in the first episode alone, John B, played by Chase Stokes , already set my heart on fire with his Duvin Design Co. Beach Day Buttonup. Naturally, the moment I saw it, I paused the episode (no, I couldn't wait until the credits rolled) and did some careful digging. The shirt, which retails for $63 and features a crew of ladies sunbathing, is currently sold out, but you can enter your email to receive updates about restocking information. You can be sure that when that email pops into my inbox, I'll already have my credit card in hand. I'm seriously co

Gabrielle Union Reveals the Bronzer That Lets Her Skip Concealer For Her Many Zoom Calls

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gabrielle Union-Wade (@gabunion) on May 1, 2020 at 12:31pm PDT There's only one product that Gabrielle Union is relying on to get through her many Zoom calls these days: a bronzer from Fenty Beauty. The actress took to Instagram on May 1 to show off her glowing skin in an isolation selfie alongside a caption about limiting the amount of makeup she's been wearing for the last several weeks. "OK yall so I've been working on improving my skin during quarantine (ill share those deets soon) and I feel pretty good about where I'm at but wanted to pop my skin with a little something for these zoom calls without putting on a full face of makeup (cuz lazy)," she wrote. "I saw someone online say they only use concealer and bronzer and I was like 🤔🤨🤥 BUT I tried it and didn't even use concealer just my @fentybeauty bronzer (Caramel Cutie) and BISHHHH this was the r

A Look Back at Melania & Ivanka Trump’s Glamorous Met Gala Style

Image
The Met Gala is one of the most prestigious events on the fashion calendar — and with all guests approved by Anna Wintour, few can make the cut. While they haven’t made appearances since President Donald Trump took the White House, Ivanka and Melania Trump used to be consistent fixtures on the red carpet at the annual event. Melania, then known as Melania Knauss prior to her 2005 nuptials, made her Met Gala debut in 2003. She wore a plunging nude gown with a billowing skirt, paired with sandals. Meanwhile, Ivanka made her first-ever Met Gala appearance in 2004, stepping out in a satin nude dress with lace butterfly accents. She teamed the dress with see-through sandals. Selena Gomez's House Slippers Look So Cozy, I Can Practically Feel How Soft They Are With 1 Glance

Image
Selena Gomez 's at-home style is as cozy as we imagined. The singer showed off her new makeshift studio at home so she can create some tunes while staying safe. Selena looked comfortable in a gray sweater paired with blue sweatpants while sitting on the floor of her new studio, which features insulated walls, a music stand, and a microphone. It is exciting to see that the singer is already back in the studio after just releasing her new album, Rare . Her sweater came in an oversize silhouette that looked perfect for everyday wear and recording new jams. We also noticed a pair of fuzzy slippers on the side of the photo that looked utterly comfortable. Selena's Instagram reminded us of the importance of a good pair of house slippers , especially since we're all staying at home at the moment. Her plush, fuzzy slides came in a classic, neutral brown hue that matches just about everything from jeans to a dress. TBH, who wouldn't want to feel like they're walking on cl

J.Crew Files For Bankruptcy, but Will Stores Close? Here's What You Need to Know

Image
J.Crew has filed for bankruptcy to eliminate $1.65 billion in debt, releasing an official announcement on the company's website. J.Crew is the first major US retailer to announce bankruptcy during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been affecting businesses large and small . But before you panic, wondering where you're going to score that perfect gingham swimsuit for summer or those trusty, well-tailored suit separates, know this: J.Crew is not planning on closing its stores, and Madewell is safe, too. J.Crew and Madewell will continue to monitor the coronavirus and reopen retail locations once it is safe to do so. Madewell is still set to remain a part of J.Crew Group, Inc, which, as of May 4, owns and operates 181 J.Crew stores, 140 Madewell stores, jcrew.com, jcrewfactory.com, madewell.com, and 170 factory stores. J Lo Looks Like an Elegant Backyard Bride in This Little White Dress

Image
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jennifer Lopez (@jlo) on May 3, 2020 at 1:13pm PDT Even though we're used to seeing J Lo in glamorous, body-hugging white gowns on the red carpet , she looks so incredibly natural jumping for joy in this little white dress on Instagram. Over the weekend, J Lo posted a lengthy caption about being grateful alongside a series of beautiful shots; she can now also add acrobat to her resume, I guess! Of course, the minidress in its ivory shade - with elegant details such as dipped sides, pleats at the waist, and a full skirt - reminded us of a very simple bridal look. And for J Lo, this vibe is a breath of fresh air - it's relatable. (Perhaps even especially relatable to brides who have recently opted for no-frill wedding ceremonies due to COVID-19 , tying the knot in their backyard on a warm spring day in a maxi dress). Met Gala 2020: How to Watch Vogue's Digital Fashion Event "A Moment With the Met"

Image
The Costume Institute's spring 2020 exhibition " About Time: Fashion and Duration " is postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), but we're still getting a (virtual) Met Gala. To mark the first Monday in May, Vogue is live streaming a digital fashion event, A Moment With the Met, exclusively on YouTube. While we wait patiently for the opening of the Costume Institute's newest exhibition on 29 October, Vogue 's A Moment With the Met promises an intimate evening with "a special performance by Florence + The Machine and a DJ set by Virgil Abloh". The event kicks off on Monday, 4 May, at 6pm ET/10pm GMT on the magazine's American YouTube channel . Instead of the usual fundraising for the Met's Costume Institute and the CFDA's A Common Thread initiative, Vogue is encouraging viewers to make a donation to either organization if possible. "It would be impossible to recreate the gala on Monday evening, though I have loved hearing how

An Exclusive First Look at 2 New IGK Hair Beach Club Products, Just in Time For Summer

Image
You know the hair that actresses have in every summer movie based in a beautiful coastal town? The effortlessly tousled, bouncy beach waves ? Yeah, that's the type of hair I want every day. Given that mine always air-dries somewhere between slightly wavy (but with no rhyme or reason to it) and straight with a weird flip at the end, that's hard for me to achieve - save for the times when I can actually get to the beach - without some additional help. For the other 99 percent of the time when I'm nowhere near a beach, I lean on products to give me that just-left-the-sand, salt-water-kissed look . IGK Hair is adding two new products to its Beach Club line that offer different versions of beach-worthy hair , and after POPSUGAR was given an exclusive first look at them, I can attest to just how freaking good they are. The newest additions to IGK Hair's summer-inspired line are a Soft Texture Paste and Bouncy Blowout Cream - each designed to give you two very different ha

Exclusive: Christian Louboutin Reveals What People Get Wrong About Him + the Shoe Legend Who Inspired His Career

Image
“With love, solidarity, responsibility and goodwill, I am sure we can go through this together,” Christian Louboutin said in a special Instagram video message on April 12. In his brand’s first post after a three-week  hiatus, the Frenchman told his 13.4 million followers it was a moment to “focus and refocus” on themselves, their families and the frontline workers who are risking their lives during the coronavirus battle. At home, the prolific designer is spending much of his time sketching in solitude — a ritual that hasn’t changed. But while he’s used to going off the grid to focus on his collections, the culture connoisseur derives much of his inspiration from travel and the far-flung locales around the world that fuel his passions. “I hope that this situation comes to an end as quickly as possible so we can be reunited together to celebrate our playful, diverse, great and unique community,” a hopeful Louboutin said in the video. Weeks earlier, the legend — who celebrates three
