When we heard Celeste Ng's 2017 bestseller Little Fires Everywhere was being turned into a short series on Hulu, we knew the screen style would be one to watch. (Especially since the show is produced by Hollywood heavy hitters Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, who also play the lead characters.) Set in 1997 in a conservative Ohio suburb called Shaker Heights, the show follows the lies that begin to unravel after the affluent Richardson family meets a newly arrived single parent Mia, played by Kerry, and her teenage daughter Pearl. Costume designer Lyn Paolo helped bring the '90s to life by styling the characters in a mix of vintage/archival pieces for the show. Reese Witherspoon, who plays Elena Richardson on the show, is often seen in preppy styles like chambray dresses and cardigans paired with pearl necklaces. “Big Little Lies” fans rejoice: Renata and Madeline are together once again. Laura Dern and Reese Withersoon, who starred in the HBO series together alongside Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz and Nicole Kidman, practiced appropriate social distancing today while taking an outdoor hike together in Los Angeles. (Social distancing is a current practice that requires at least six feet of space to be placed between yourself and others throughout the coronavirus pandemic.) The two co-stars walked together but with space between them as they both wore stylish workout-chic ensembles. Dern hiked in a pair of looser athleisure pants with a graphic t-shirt and a black down jacket while Witherspoon went with a zip-up red chevron puffer, heathered leggings and a black cap.
