Observed from September 15 to October 15, the occasion recognizes the histories, cultures and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. FN invites you to follow along as we shine a light on Hispanic-American shoe designers and entrepreneurs making big waves in the fashion industry. Alepel designer Adriana Epelboim Levy launched her Miami-based shoe brand six years ago and is seeing recent growth, despite coronavirus challenges. With footwear made in Brazil and hand-painted with various designs, Epelboim Levy said her sales have doubled year-over-year. She credits her shift to focusing more on her direct-to-consumer strategy, which was in the works prior to the current health crisis, for the success. “We did that with enough time in advance,” she said. “And it’s been an amazing year because we’re finally doing what works for us. The tennis pro arrived at the show in a chic head-to-toe look from the French fashion house including a racing-inspired checkered dress. The denim-on-denim style is considered a Canadian Tuxedo in the fashion realm; the legend of the look originated in the 1950s when American musician Bing Crosby chose an all-jean Levi’s outfit instead of a suit at his hotel in Vancouver. News broke yesterday that J Balvin will be the next celebrity to get his own meal at McDonald’s and fans are going wild. The “Mi Gente” singer teased the news on social media yesterday before the restaurant chain confirmed it with an image of Balvin testing out his own meal deal. Wearing McDonald’s signature colors with a yellow overshirt and red pants, the singer snacked on his special meal which includes a Big Mac but hold the pickles as well as medium fries with ketchup and an Oreo McFlurry. It was clear that Chanel’s spring ’21 show would have something to do with Hollywood and the movies. The day before the show, the brand released a teaser, filmed by photographer duo Inez & Vinoodh, showing a replica of the famous Hollywood sign done in “CHANEL,” along with a series of dramatic vignettes in which models-as-actresses performed recurring cinematic situations. Fast forward a day, and the Grand Palais was filled with those giant iconic letters done in white. Models walked out from them wearing a series of black, white and bubblegum pink looks, Chanel style. While it may not have been the explicit intent of Chanel creative director Virginie Viard, the collection looks primed for a “Legally Blonde” comeback.
