Timothée Chalamet just hit the red carpet at the Met Gala on Monday in New York wearing a custom suit and the ultimate American sneaker. Instead of opting for brogues or oxfords, the Met Gala co-chair paired his suit with Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers. The classic lace-up shoes were worn over tall white socks, which his suit pants were tucked into. The “Dune” actor arrived at the “Oscars of fashion” in an ensemble by Haider Ackermann. The look featured a white double-breasted blazer with black lapels — which were non-traditionally turned upwards and folded over each other — that was worn over a white turtleneck top. It may not be the first Monday in May but the Met Gala is back and bigger than ever. The Met Gala kicked off this evening with star-studded arrivals left and right. Known as the fashion industry’s Oscars, the Met Gala was first introduced in 1948, two years after the Museum of Costume Art merged with The Metropolitan Museum of Art to become The Costume Institute in 1946. Each May, the annual fundraising event celebrates the opening of the spring exhibition. This year, however, the Met gala takes place in September after the 2020 event had been canceled due to the coronavirus. This year’s exhibition will be divided into two parts. The first segment, titled “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” will open on September 18. With a focus on the “modern vocabulary of American fashion,” it will honor the Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary. Then for Part two of the exhibition, which will open May 5, 2022, there will be another Met Gala in celebration, taking place on May 2, 2022. The second

The number featured a pair of short shorts and bralette top, which featured a cinched bandeau and flowing train that opened at the front. Ora’s top was also complete with two oversized long sleeves, which covered her hands in a dramatic fashion. Gabrielle Union set the tone for the 2021 Met Gala day on a glamorous note. The actress was seen heading to “Good Morning America” on Monday, the same day as the Met Gala. She wore a vintage Isaac Mizrahi green silk gown, which she posted to her Instagram in the gown with the caption “Kicking off #MetMonday with an homage to American fashion with this archive Isaac Mizrahi from spring 1991.” The dress featured a lighter green mini dress beneath a deeper green silk long sleeve cape.
