CoverGirl's Parent Company Is Now Making Hand Sanitizer to Fight the Coronavirus

Coty Inc. is the latest company to join the long list of brands that are giving back during the coronavirus pandemic. While other brands like Lipslut, Peace Out, and Grande Cosmetics are donating percentages of their earnings to COVID-19 relief efforts, others like Coty and Bumble and Bumble are using their resources to produce hand sanitizer for hospitals and medical staff.

The brand, which is the parent company to names like Clairol, CoverGirl, Sally Hansen, and Calvin Klein's fragrances, announced on March 25 that it's currently in the process of making batches of hand sanitizer in its factories in the US and Monaco. "As a responsible beauty company, we make our resources and facilities available to help the communities we are operating in during these exceptionally challenging times," Coty CEO Pierre Laubies said in a statement. "We are proud to support the brave professionals fighting on the frontlines against COVID-19 by providing hand sanitizer where it is needed."

Coty is expecting to produce several thousand bottles of the hydroalcoholic gel per week, all of which will be distributed free of charge to medical professionals and Coty employees working in plants and distribution centers.

"The health and safety of our employees is our top priority and we will take all possible measures and precautions to keep them healthy and safe as they work to protect our communities that we care for and serve," said Pierre-André Terisse, Coty COO. "We are incredibly proud of our associates who are stepping up to contribute to the global fight against COVID-19."
