This London Footwear Label Just Launched Its First-Ever Fully Sustainable Luxury Sneaker

Luxury sneaker fans now have a new sustainable sneaker to shop.

The newest look from London footwear label Duke & Dexter is the Ritchie, a stylish sneaker handmade in England with sustainably-sourced materials and built for those looking for comfort.

“By definition, we want to ensure that every single component is sustainably sourced, meaning that each individual item can continue to be produced, in principle, forever without any ongoing damage or net negative environmental impact. This is indeed the case with the Ritchie,” Duke & Dexter founder and CEO Archie Hewlett told FN. “What’s more, every component for the Ritchie is ordered to use — simply meaning there’s zero wastage or leftover. And of course, as with all D+Ds, they’re completely handmade in our UK factory where we source locally to minimize the amount of travel time involved for each pair of shoes and we offset our carbon emissions from deliveries to customers.”

The Ritchie was created for the “anti-runner,” the consumer interested in slowing things down rather than sprint to their favorite boutique or e-com platform for the most hyped sneaker drop.

The Duke & Dexter Ritchie is executed with either soft and durable Italian suede or leather, depending on the colorway. Also, the style features Italian leather lining, non-stitch foam padded heels and a new custom sole unit with added cushioning in the heel for long-lasting comfort. Lastly, the shoes are delivered with the brand’s signature monochrome heel bar and D+D tongue labels.

The Duke & Dexter Ritchie is available now via Dukeanddexter.com with a $295 retail price.

The Ritchie is the follow-up silhouette to the sell-out Hiker Low styles created in partnership with British racing driver Jenson Button.

Duke & Dexter was founded in 2014 by Hewlett, who began the business at just 22 years old. A breakout moment came in 2015, when British actor Eddie Redmayne wore a pair of the brand’s loafers to collect his Oscar for Best Actor.
