Tracee Ellis Ross Puts Her Mom Jeans to Good Use As She Campaigns for Georgia Senate Runoff
Tracee Ellis Ross is using her bold sense of fashion to make a strong statement this week.
The “Girlfriends” alumna took to Instagram yesterday to show her support for Georiga Democratic U.S. Senate challenger Rev. Raphael Warnock through a standout ensemble. The look included a black T-shirt that read “It’s a Warnock Life” in bright blue font teamed with classic high-rise mom jeans and oversize shades; the sunglasses come from Rihanna’s Fenty lineup and retail for $440 on the brand’s website.
“Got balcony sharp today! It’s the only place I went thank u @raphaelwarnock @jimmychoo & @fenty for my gifts,” wrote Ellis Ross in her caption. “PS: Early voting ends Jan 1, so Georgians make your plan to cast your ballot early! #itsawarnocklife.”
Tapping Jimmy Choo for her footwear look of the day, the “Black-Ish” star opted for the brand’s on-trend square-toe boots. The style, titled the Mahesa silhouette, features a knee-high finish formed with sleek leather uppers, an angular 3.5-inch heel and a square-toe finish. Topped off with the fashion house’s gold logo plaque, you can shop Ellis Ross’ boots for $1,495 at Net-a-Porter.
Square-toe footwear returned to the scene in 2019 and has continued into this year as a major cross-seasonal trend. Be it a classic boot, a flat slide or a towering stiletto heel, the minimalistic silhouette falls in line with a ’90s-inspired revitalization of fashion, as seen with combat boots and thong-toe shoe styles, as well as pops of neon color across apparel and footwear.
As for Tracee Ellis Ross, throughout her time in quarantine, the “High Note” star has used social media as an outlet to connect with her fans about her “Black-Ish” series and about everyday life. And even as lockdown measures have eased, the star has continued to give glimpses into behind-the-scenes style moments from her TV series, as well as real-time looks at her home life and workouts in Asics sneakers.
As a modern style figure, her closet isn’t lacking in designer labels. Some of the luxe brands in her collection include Christopher John Rogers, Loewe and Christian Louboutin. She also has starred in campaigns for Kenzo’s spring ’17 collection alongside Jessie Williams of “Grey’s Anatomy.”
