Vanessa Hudgens Gives Sweats a Western Twist in a Cowboy Hat & Cowgirl Boots

Vanessa Hudgens upgraded her sweats in an unexpected way last night.

The “High School Musical” alumna layered a New York hoodie over coordinating gray sweatpants yesterday as seen on Instagram, contrasted by a dark cowboy hat and classic black leather cowgirl boots.

Western boots experienced a revival amongst celebrity style trends in 2018, continuing into 2019 and 2020 with their classic appeal and retro touch. From pointed-toe versions to square-toe silhouette, twists on cowgirl boots could be found on the likes of Gigi Hadid, Gwen Stefani and Hailey Baldwin with brands including Givenchy, Off-White, Anny Nord and more featuring the designs on their runways.

Earlier this week, the “Beastly” actress arrived served as the host of the 2020 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time. Arriving on the red carpet, the star modeled a  strapless black mini dress from Versace cinched together with a thin leather belt. Similar designs from the brand retail for $5,795 at Farfetch.com.

In her choice of footwear, Hudgens elevated the little black dress with towering 6-inch heels. The lifted style comes from Casadei and features a thin heel with a platform peep-toe silhouette. Though the black colorway isn’t currently available, a red suede iteration of the brand’s Flora pumps retail for $782 courtesy of Farfetch.

As for Hudgens’ everyday style, the “Princess Switch” star‘s taste can be described as boho-chic. She was dubbed the “Queen of Coachella” back in 2018. Her closet includes many flowing silhouettes, ruffled designs, floral numbers and tie-dye accents that give off a ’70s-inspired feel. Her go-to brands for dressed-up ensembles and footwear range from Alexander Wang to Balenciaga and Gucci.

When it comes to her off-duty looks, you can find the actress in pieces from Ugg, Naked Wolfe Dr. Marten’s and Frye — though she still mixes in glam pieces from the likes of Jimmy Choo and Gianvito Rossi. Her new go-to everyday style also features picks from Gymshark, Adidas and more athletically-centered brands as she follows the growing celebrity trend of athleisure amidst stay-at-home style.
