The Olive & June Manicure Kit Is, Hands Down, the Best Thing I've Bought Recently

Image
If there is one beauty and self-care ritual I like to keep up with, it's getting my nails done. I can skip a blowout or a facial if need be, but I really love having my nails done. I just feel like myself with a fresh coat of polish . However, I haven't set foot in a nail salon in two months, and while I appreciated the time for my nails to take a polish break , I wanted a little creature comfort. I ordered the Olive & June Studio Kit ($50), and it's a game changer. I am not a natural artist; the worst grade I ever got in high school was in drawing and painting. I don't even own nail polish; I always use the salon's. So I was super excited to try the Poppy ($16), the Olive & June universal nail polish tool. The idea is that you put the poppy over your nail polish bottle, and it keeps your hand steady so you can paint easily. Reader, it works. It works astonishingly well. I used their brand of polish (which by the way might be the best polish ever), and

12 Nostalgic Red Carpet Outfits We Want to Wear After Watching Tiger King

Image
Two things that have been on my mind since finishing Netflix's Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness . Along with not being able to stop saying "Hey, all you cool cats and kittens," I haven't been able to get Carole Baskin's closet out of my head. If you need a refresher, she showed off her wardrobe on the true-crime docuseries and it only consists of what she likes to call "cat prints." Even animal advocate's luggage came in these wild prints! Talk about being committed to a trend. After seeing her multiple animal-print ensembles throughout the show, I couldn't help but feel like her entire wardrobe felt like it was right out of the early '00s. It reminded me of seeing celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Lindsay Lohan walking the red carpet back in the day wearing cheetah- and leopard-print outfits designed by Roberto Cavalli. (He was notorious for using these wild prints in a lot of his designs!) While it seems like many have found a n

11 Friends Apartment Outfits I Wish I Was Wearing Right Now

Image
I don't know about you, but I am always watching Friends reruns, and pretty much immediately after we all started officially sheltering in place , I knew I had to rewatch every season. It didn't take long before I was propped up in bed, ice cream pint in hand, transfixed on one of Rachel's baseball tees. The same thing happened again when I saw Chandler in his waffle henley . I thought to myself, "This is all the stuff I want to be wearing right now!" Yep, somehow, none of my own sweat sets could compare to the screen style on Friends . It's true - Ross, Chandler, Phoebe, Rachel, Monica, and Joey each stuck to their own signature casual aesthetic while lounging in the apartment, but they all owned pieces that were like, way stylish for athleisure-wear in the '90s. I always knew I was into how Rachel dressed in her miniskirts, tights, and boots, and that I loved the way Monica wore mom jeans , so wasn't it obvious that the best place to seek work-

Don't Want to Take Out Your Hair Extensions? Here's How to Maintain Them at Home

Image
Just because you can't get to a salon right now, doesn't mean that you have to take out your hair extensions on your own. Removing extensions isn't exactly hard, but it's often something that - like hair color or getting a trim - people would rather leave to the pros. Since making a salon appointment isn't an option right now, though, there are ways you can extend the life of your hair extensions until you can get to your hairstylist. Read ahead to for a few maintenance tips from Shelly Aguirre , hairstylist at Maxine Salon in Chicago. Tip #1: Wash Your Hair Less Often Maybe you've already been doing this, considering the circumstances, but this is a good reason to skip the shampoo. According to Aguirre, washing your hair less helps to keep the bonds of your extensions attached. If your scalp feels oily or has product buildup, consider using a dry shampoo instead. Tip #2: Don't Pick at Your Extensions Try to keep your hands out of your hair as muc
