Christina Aguilera Swaps a Plunging Leather Suit for the Coziest Sweats in a Mix of 2020’s Biggest Trends

Christina Aguilera showed off all sides of her versatile style this weekend as she rang in her 40th birthday with pizzaz.

The “Burlesque” star kicked off a new decade on Friday and, to celebrate, debuted a bold black and white photoshoot with a daring take on a power suit. The sleek leather combination layered a plunging black blazer over coordinating trousers with a snaking body chain to for edge.

A sleek piece of leather attire has become one of the biggest trends this fall — and now this winter, too. Whether in the form of a coat, leggings or, in Aguilera’s case, a suit, the effortlessly cool material offers an easy way to add a glam yet edgy touch to all looks, as exemplified by the likes of Katie Holmes, Kendall Jenner, Zoe Kravitz and more.

Later in the weekend, though, Xtina demonstrated another version of her continuously trendy style from the comfort of her own home. The “Lady Marmalade” singer took on her son Max, 12, in a game of Mario Kart for Nintendo on Sunday, kicking back in a plush couch in her bright red entertainment room.

Instead of sleek suits and daring looks, Aguilera went for a cozy tan hoodie and sweatpants set layered over cozy fuzzy socks. Though a contrasting trend to leather designs, pajamas and loungewear have become the new normal when it comes to celebrity style. Amidst the health crisis, the world of fashion is turning towards clothing that provides a sense of comfort and stability with ease of wear; that includes everything from biker shorts and athleisure to soft sweats like Aguilera’s pick.

Though her shoes couldn’t be seen in her slick suit, the “Genie in a Bottle” musician is no stranger to a heightened look. More often than not, you can find Aguilera in boots, sandals and pumps that come set atop a teetering heel. Even throughout her time in quarantine, the musician continued her streak of bold footwear choices. Christina Aguilera’s towering heels and designer duds last night serve as further examples of the singer’s standout style. From Viktor & Rolf couture gowns to Gina Shoes latex thigh-high boots, the former “The Voice” judge has a knack for taking her outfits above and beyond the expected.
